SOLD - 12g hammer gun by W.R. Pape - 30 x 2 1/2" damascus barrels
This W.R. Pape hammer gun was built circa 1890. It has 30 x 2 1/2″ damascus barrels with engraving on the top rib reading, “W.R. Pape Newcastle on Tyne, Inventor of Choke Boring”. The action body is rounded and engraved with fine scroll as are the back action locks, which also bear the name “W.R. Pape”. A Deeley barometer catch holds the fore-end and there is a silver shield escutcheon on the grip of the stock behind the top lever. Both hammers and hammer screws are original and the 14 1/2″ semi-pistol grip stock hasn’t ever been restored or re-chequered. I have re-proved the gun, re-browned the barrels and overhauled the action and mechanism.
