SOLD - 12g Round Action by John Dickson & Son - 28 x 2 3/4" sleeved barrels
This John Dickson non-ejector round action was built in 1886 and has patent use number 157. Although sleeved with 28” x 2 ¾” barrels and chokes of ¼ and 5/8, it is in very clean, original condition and is No 1 of a pair. Engraving style on the action, trigger plate, guard etc. is incredibly fine scroll. Stock length is a tad less than 14 1/2″ which includes a leather covered recoil pad and the crown of the stock is surprisingly clean with very little oil staining, which for a 140 year old gun is unusual. I took a few pictures as it was being overhauled and I hope these show the quality and condition of the gun, which has hardly developed any rust. The gun still retains its original articulated lever spring, something I haven’t seen for years. All-in-all a beautiful gun. With the chokes reduced slightly, this gun will shoot standard steel.
