12g sidelock ejector by James Kirk - 28 x 2 3/4" barrels
This James Kirk is only the second Scottish gun I’ve seen built on the Baker self-opening system, not dissimilar to the Twelve-Twenty. Re-proved to 2 3/4”, the 28″ steel barrels have a third locking grip and the top rib reads “James Kirk, 36 Union Buildings, Ayr”. Engraving style on the locks and action is acanthus and beaded borders with a fruiting grape vine design round the balls of the action. This gun has an Anson fore-end with the Twelve-Twenty Southgate ejector system. The 14 3/8″ beautifully figured stock has been re-chequered and oil finished and the gun has had a full mechanical overhaul, it really has scrubbed up well. All-in-all a stylish gun and really quite unusual.
