12g sidelock ejector by James Purdey & Sons - 27 x 2 3/4" barrels
This is an extra finish Purdey built in the late 30’s. The gun is beautifully engraved with bold acanthus scroll with acorns and oak leaves around the balls of the action almost certainly the work of Harry Kell. It has its original 27″ x 2 3/4″ chopper lump barrels, a 3rd locking grip, side clips and the bar of the action is rounded. The gun has just undergone a complete restoration which includes a new stock by the makers and recolour hardened by St. Ledger, the serial number is inlaid in gold on the trigger guard and the top rib reads James Purdey & Sons, London, also inlaid in gold and is in as new condition. The gun has a beautifully figured 15 1/8″ straight-hand stock. Disc set strikers and the usual Purdey assisted opening in its oak and leather case. As I mentioned, it’s like new.
|CONDITION:||Perfect barrel condition, 99% renewed hardening colour.|
