20g SLE by Merkel – 27 x 2 3/4″ barrels

This is the first Merkel of this type I have had.  I am guessing built in the 1980s.  The action is engraved with panels of scroll, the right lock with a pointing dog flushing partridges, the left lock with a fox flushing ducks.  The action is bolstered and has side clips along with the Greener cross-bolt locking system.  It has Southgate ejectors, a Deeley catch fore-end and an auto-return top safe.  It has a well-figured, straight-hand 14 5/8″ stock.  Super little gun which will fire steel shot with the chokes regulated and is in pretty much new condition.

Disclaimer: to be clear this gun is suitable to fire standard steel cartridges but is not proved for steel.
