28g Round Action by James MacNaughton & Sons – 24 1/4 x 2 1/2″ barrels

£5,250.00

This 28g round action by James MacNaughton was built just prior to 1890. The action and lock plate are sparsely engraved with scroll and the name “MacNaughton, Edinburgh” is engraved around the ball of the action. Retaining a small amount of original hardening colour, this gun has 24 1/4″ x 2 1/2″ chambered barrels which are sleeved. The 15 3/8″ stock includes a 1 1/2″ wooden extension and should the gun require shortening, this will be included in the price. This lever-cocking gun has a Hackett snap on fore-end, with buffalo horn fore-end tip, an inspection window to view the tumblers in either cocked or fired position and an auto pendulum safe. Presented in its original motor case with trade label, this is a sweet little gun.  Please note, the pictures are prior to it being overhauled. I’ve also included a picture of an original MacNaughton 28g action forging.

Please see below for bore measurements.
