Exceptionally rare pair of 16g round actions by John Dickson & Son - 29" x 2 1/2" barrels
If you’re a collector or enthusiast of rare and unusual shotguns, these guns are a true find. They are rare because they are 16 gauge and unusual because of their 29″ chopperlump barrels, in fact having 29″ barrels may make them unique. The first gun was built in 1927, with the second ordered to match in 1938. Chokes are 1/4 and 1/2.
Engraving style on the actions and locks is elegant fine rose and scroll, with ‘Dickson’s Patent’ inscribed on the underside of the action body. The guns have one-piece, 15″ stocks, the number 2 gun being re-stocked by the makers about 20 years ago.
Both guns are exceptionally well-balanced, each weighing just 5lbs 12 1/2 oz, making them a joy to handle. These shotguns are presented in their original velvet-lined maker’s case, accompanied by an outer canvas cover. Remarkably, both guns have remained in the same family since new, adding to their historical significance and rarity. If you’re in search of a pair of shotguns that embody both exceptional craftsmanship and rarity, these could be the perfect addition to your collection.
