Pair of 12g Round Actions by John Dickson & Son 27" x 2 1/2" barrels
This pair of Dickson round actions was built in 1937, delivered at the end of July. They are totally original with one-piece, incredibly well matched, beautifully figured 14 ¾” stocks which still bear the initials of the chap who ordered them. Being bald guns, there is no chequering on the wrists or fore-ends and the stocks are shaped with a diamond grip which make them feel fabulous in the hand. The chopper lump barrels are 27 x 2 ½” and the actions and locks are engraved with fine rose and scroll, retaining about 30% of original hardening colour. Numbers 1 and 2 are inlaid in gold and Dickson’s Patent is also inlaid in gold on the lock plate just forward of the trigger guard and the gilding of the lock work is in perfect condition. Fitted with intercepting sears, the No 1 gun weighs 6lbs ¼ oz and the No 2 gun weighs 6lbs 1/8oz. What a beautifully balanced, fabulous pair of guns, presented in an oak and leather double case. Please note the photographs are prior to the guns being overhauled and the No 1 gun having its barrels blacked.
