Pair of 12g Round Actions by John Dickson & Son 28" x 2 1/2" barrels
This pair of John Dickson & Son round actions was built in 1936. Their style is probably my favourite of the modern area – those built from around 1925-1945 on lighter actions and shorter barrels. The guns have 28″ chopper lump barrels with 2 1/2″ chambers and gun No 2 has new maker’s barrels. Being bald round actions, they were built without chequering. Original stocks measuring 15″ are one-piece and have a fabulous diamond grip. Both guns exhibit some original colour hardening and have gilded lock work. Engraving style on the actions and locks is fine rose and scroll with “Dickson Patent” inlaid in gold just forward of the guards. Being in one family from new, the guns are presented in their original velvet-lined case with outer canvas cover, including all the accessories. With the new barrels on the No.2 gun, this gun will be capable of firing standard steel cartridges if the left-hand choke is reduced slightly. A fabulous pair of game guns.
