Pair of 12g Round Actions by John Dickson & Son 29" x 2 1/2" barrels
This magnificent pair of left-handed John Dickson & Son round actions was built in 1910. The 29″ x 2 1/2″ chopper lump barrels have excellent wall thicknesses. Engraving on the action bodies is Sumner’s bold acanthus scroll, in fact these guns were featured in an article on Jack Sumner. Traces of hardening colour appear on both guns and the locks are gilded. They have been fully overhauled, furniture polished and blacked, new cross pins fitted and they have had a full re-joint – so they open and close like new. Retaining their original 14 5/8″ well-figured, left-handed stocks with fiddleback, the triggers on these guns also have a left-hand bias. Interestingly, they’ve never had any rust on them, there is still colour hardening on the edges of the top straps. It’s one of the best pairs I’ve had.
