Pair of 28g Sidelock Ejectors by P Webley 28 x 2 1/2" barrels
These remarkable guns by P Webley & Sons were built circa 1895. The actions, locks, guards, etc. are engraved with incredibly fine rose and scroll and there are ribanded fences chiselled into the balls of the actions. The barrels are 28″ x 2 1/2″ damascus, have the addition of a Greener cross-bolt locking system and Southgate ejectors. Barrel wall thicknesses are exceptionally good and bizarrely all four chokes are slightly tighter than full, so I would strongly recommend they are reduced and regulated before being shot. Stocks measure 14 1/4″, are incredibly well matched, highly figured and haven’t ever been restored so are in fabulous condition. The guns weigh 5lbs 1/4oz, or, when I switch my weighing scales to metric, there is one gram of difference between the guns; I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before. Numbered 1 & 2 in gold they are presented in a small bore case with outer canvas cover and an Ogden Smith & Hussey Ltd trade label. I don’t think I’ve ever handled such delicate and well balanced guns.
