SOLD – 12g hammergun by James Squires – 30 1/2″ x 2 1/2″ barrels

£1,750.00

SOLD – This is a magnificent big gun, built by James Squires of London. Whitworth steel barrels measure 30 1/2″ x 2 1/2″, are black powder proved only and barrel walls measure north of 40 thou, giving the gun an impressive weight of 8lbs 5oz.  Engraved on the broad flat top rib is “James Squires, 14 Newcastle Street, Whitechapel, London”, and the rest of the gun is engraved with fine scroll, not dissimilar to a Churchill Premier.  There are side clips to the action, percussion fences, extremely ornate hammers, a Jones’ underlever opening system, rebounding back action barlocks and an Anson fore-end.  The Prince of Wales stock measures 14 3/8”, including a Silver’s pad, and the gun is presented in an oak and leather case with trade label and a few accessories.  It is an impressive big gun.

NB: All guns exported to the USA will be subject to 10% Import Tax
