12g A&D ejector by Armstrong & Co - 27" x 2 1/2" barrels
This Armstrong gun is likely to have been built around 1910. Replacement barrels, which were made by Charles Boswell of London, measure 27″, with 2 1/2″ chambers and are choked 1/4 and 1/2. The gun has Deeley box ejectors, and a concealed cross-bolt locking system. Engraving style on the action body is rose and scroll with the Scottish thistle chiselled into the balls of the action. The figured 14 7/8″ straight-hand stock is in good condition, although there is a small 1/8″ plug on the right-hand side which may well indicate it has been pinned at some point. However, there is no movement in the woodwork, and the stock has a beautiful rose gold vacant escutcheon plate. It is a clean honest gun which the previous owner had used for the last 40 years. All in all a lovely old gun. This gun will fire standard steel cartridges without alteration.
