SOLD – 12g hammergun by Boss & Co – 28″ x 2 1/2″ barrels

£3,250.00

SOLD – This beautiful hammergun by Boss was built in 1875, and has 28″ x 2 1/2″ shortened Damascus barrels which are clean with excellent wall thicknesses.  Additionally, there is a pair of steel barrels with 2 3/4″ chambers built by “John Wilkes of London”, which were re-proved to 2 3/4″ in London in 1996 and are choked 3/4 and Full.  Engraving style on the action locks, hammers, etc, is Boss’ delicate scrollwork and the Damascus barrel breech end is engraved No 1 as is the trigger guard.  The back locks are rebounding with dolphin head hammers, and the gun has the Jones’ underlever locking system.  Retaining a small amount of original hardening colour, this gun has a 14 3/8″ stock, which includes a 1 1/4″ extension piece.   This is a clean gun which shows little sign of wear.  With the chokes reduced, the steel barrels will be capable of firing standard steel cartridges.

Disclaimer: to be clear this gun is suitable to fire standard steel cartridges but is not proved for steel.

Please see below for bore measurements.
