12g OU by J Woodward & Sons – 28″ x 2 1/2″ barrels

You don’t see many of these.  Built circa 1925, this Woodward is engraved with exceptionally fine rose and scroll with the name “J. Woodward & Sons” appearing within a cartouche, and “Woodward’s Patent Over & Under” is engraved on the underside of the action. Marked No. 1 of a pair and fitted with a hold-open top lever, the 28″ x 2 1/2″ barrels were sleeved and proved in London in 1992 and feature a solid, stippled top rib. The replacement 15 3/4″ highly figured stock is finished with a Silver’s pad.  Recently serviced, the gun has been stripped and cleaned, with the ribs lifted and re-laid and the barrels freshly re-blacked. Presented in a London-made case lined in Woodward red, complete with an original Woodward trade label.   A fine and desirable piece.
