SOLD - 12g round action by John Dickson & Son - 29 x 2 1/2" Damascus barrels plus extra 29" x 2/3" steel barrels
SOLD – For those of you who visit my website you may well recognize this gun, the reluctant seller has finally decided to put the gun back on the market. It was built in 1896 and has its original 29″ Damascus barrels, which are in perfect condition and are choked Improved Cylinder and 1/4. The action and locks have been finely engraved by Jack Sumner with the finest scroll work and there are traces of original hardening colour. There has been a Silver’s pad fitted to the length of 14 7/8 and I can see that the gun has hardly been used since I last overhauled it. The owner of the gun had another pair of 29″ chopperlump steel barrels made in 2021. They have 2 3/4 ” chambers and the barrels are recorded in Dickson’s records and, at the same time, the owner had a new case made to accommodate both pairs of barrels. This is a truly spectacular gun and at £16,950 represents excellent value. To re-barrel a Dickson round action today would be north of £15,000 and a similar case would be at least £2,500. The new barrels will be capable of firing standard steel cartridges, I don’t think you’ll find another one like this.
