12g sidelock ejector by William Evans - 30" x 2 1/2" barrels
This beautiful sidelock was built circa 1910. Steel barrels measure 30″ x 2 1/2”, it has a third locking grip, and the top rib reads “William Evans, 63 Pall Mall, St James, London”. Fitted with Southgate ejectors, the action also has disc set strikers, and engraving style on the action and locks is bold acanthus and pierced strapwork. Measurements for the beautifully figured stock are 15 5/8″, including heel and toe plates, and there is a vacant rose gold escutcheon plate. The gun is marked No. 1, although I believe it was built as a single gun. Presented in its case, labelled with the Evans’ trade label, and featuring some named accessories. It’s a real beauty. With the chokes reduced, this gun will fire standard steel cartridges.
