Pair 12g sidelock ejectors by E C Green & Son - 28" x 2 1/2" barrels
This pair of sidelocks was built around 1900, and has 28″ x 2 1/2″ Whitworth steel barrels, which were re-proved in the 1970s. Choked true cylinder and 1/4, the top rib of the barrels reads, “Edwinson C Green & Son, Cheltenham & Gloucester”, and the barrel tubes read, “Sir Joseph Whitworth’s best pressed steel”. Beautifully engraved on the action is fine rose and scroll, and ribanded fences are chiselled into the balls of the action. Gold numbers 1 and 2 are inlaid into the top levers, fore-end irons and barrel breech ends and the actions faces are fitted with disc set strikers. Highly-figured, 14 3/8″ stocks are in beautiful condition, with gold escutcheon plates engraved with a family crest and the fore-ends are fitted with lever catches. All in all, a beautifully stylish pair of guns presented in their maker’s oak and leather case with trade label. These guns will be capable of firing standard steel cartridges without alteration.
