12g ribless, boxlock ejector by Alex Martin - 27 3/4" x 2 1/2" barrels
This ribless Martin was built in the 30s. Replacement barrels were fitted in 1979 and the barrel tubes read “Alex Martin, Gunmakers, 20 Royal Exchange Square, Glasgow”. Engraving style on the action is fine scroll with ‘Alex Martin’ engraved within a banner on the sides. Retaining a small amount of colour hardening, there is a concealed third grip and the gun has a spindle lever system, a rocker safe and Southgate ejectors. The 15″ straight-hand stock has panels and drop points with a wooden extension piece. Presented in its original maker’s case with trade label and named snap caps—a clean example of what are now, pretty rare guns.
