SOLD – 12g ‘Facile Princeps’ FH70 by W W Greener – 28″ x 2 1/2″ barrels

SOLD – I haven’t seen many of these. This is a Greener Facile Princeps, Model FH70, with 28″ x 2 1/2″ steel barrels, choked 1/4 and 1/2 which include panels of scroll work on the breech ends.  Engraved on the top rib is “WW Greener, maker, 40 Pall Mall, London, SW. Works, St Mary’s Square, Birmingham”.  The scroll-backed action is beautifully filed up and engraved with fine scroll and rose panels along with oak leaf borders.  It has, as you would expect, the Greener cross-bolt, locking system, and other features include an automatic side safe, a Deeley fore-end catch and Baker ejectors.   Ebony diamonds are inlaid on the panels of the 14 5/8″ straight hand stock, which has a 1/4 cast off and bend measurements of 1 5/8 and 2 1/4.  It is a really clean example, presented in its case with trade label.
