This will be one of the last batches of ribless Martins to be built and is likely to have been built in the mid 50s, quite likely by A.A. Brown. The 26" ribless barrels have 2 1/2" chambers and the barrel tubes read "Alex Martin Limited, 20 Exchange Square, Glasgow" . The action, coverplate, guard etc. are engraved with medium scroll work and Alex Martin engraved in a scrolling banner. The action and fore-end iron retain at least 80% of its original colour hardening. It has a 14" well figured stock to a buffalo heel plate, it has "Southgate Ejectors" full spindle lever system and a roller safe. It comes in its lightweight leather case with trade label. In truly beautiful condition.
