12g sidelock ejector by Charles Hellis & Sons - barrels 26" x 2 1/4"
Likely built in the 1930s, this gun features 26″ x 2½” steel barrels, with Southgate ejectors and an Anson Fore-end. Engraving style on the locks and action is bold acanthus scroll with “Charles Hellis & Sons” inscribed in a scrolling banner on the action and “Charles Hellis & Sons Ltd, 121 & 123 Edgware Road, Hyde Park, London”. engraved on the top rib. Measurements on the highly figured, straight-hand stock are 15½ including a well-matched 1½” extension piece.
