Pair of 12g assisted-opening, Premier sidelock ejectors by E J Churchill - 25" x 2 1/2" barrels
These guns were built circa 1948. The 25″ chopperlump barrels have Churchill’s cross-filed, quick-sighting, top ribs, inlaid with gold numbers 1 & 2 and, of course, XXV. The barrel tubes read, “E J Churchill, Gunmakers Ltd, Orange Street Gunworks, Leicester Square, London”, and there are panels of bold acanthus engraved on the chamber ends. Engraving style on the actions and lock plates is bold acanthus, with “E J Churchill” signed in a pierced banner on the locks, and “Premier Finest Quality” engraved on the underside of the action bodies. Built on the Baker assisted opening system, these gun are not dissimilar to 12/20s. Well-figured replacement stocks are fitted with 1/2″ leather covered pads which take the stocks out to 14 3/4″, and there is about 30% renewed hardening colour left on the actions and locks. Fitted with very stylish double rolled edge trigger guards, these guns are presented in their VC case with trade label, oil bottle, snap caps etc.
