Pair of 12g self-opening sidelock ejectors by J Blanch & Son - 30" x 2 1/2" barrels
These beautiful, cased guns were built circa 1925. Unusually, this is the first pair of Baker Patent self-opening guns I have seen with 30″ barrels, as they tend to measure 27″ or 28″. New barrels have been fitted to the No 1 gun and the top ribs read “J Blanch & Son, 29 Gracechurch Street, London”. Gold numbers 1 and 2 appear on the barrel breech ends, top levers and fore-end tips, and there is a concealed third locking grip. Engraving style on the actions, which are very slightly different, is fine rose and scroll. Both guns retain a fair amount of original hardening colour. Highly-figured stocks measure 14 1/8″, and both guns have just undergone a complete renovation. I must say they look fantastic. A super pair of guns with excellent wall thicknesses.
