12g round action by John Dickson & Son - 28" x 2 1/2" barrels
Made in June 1955 this is one of the newest Edinburgh Dicksons I’ve had. The action is finely engraved with rose and scroll and the Dickson patent is in-laid in gold just before the trigger guard. It has 28″ x 2 1/2″ chopperlump barrels and the top rib reads “John Dickson & Son (incorporating “Mortimer & Son”) 21 Frederick Street, Edinburgh”. The semi pistol grip stock is 15 3/8″ to centre and has a buffalo horn pistol cap, along with a vacant gold escutcheon plate. The mechanism is gilded and the lock is fitted with intercepting sears. I have given this gun a full overhaul, polished and blacked the furniture, a new cross pin has been fitted and the gun has had a full re-joint. The woodwork has been renovated with the barrels polished and blacked. Interestingly this gun cost £310 in 1955.
