12g sidelock ejector by Holland & Holland - 28 x 2 1/2" barrels
This is a Holland & Holland Royal, built circa 1920 and is No. 2 of a pair. It is obvious that a great deal of money has been spent on this gun at some point as it has new 28″ x 2 1/2″ barrels and a new 15 1/4″ one piece stock. I suspect at the time of barrelling or stocking, the gun was re-hardened and retains about 90% of its colour. Oak leaves and acorns are chiselled into the balls of the action and the detachable locks are engraved with Holland’s bold acanthus. Presented in its double case, this gun has been recently stripped and cleaned. With the left choke reduced slightly, it would be capable of firing standard steel cartridges.
